Frequently Asked Questions

What happens after I booked / paid a tour?

We send a booking confirmation to your email address within a day. Take it with you to the departure point on the day of the tour (printed or on your phone) and you’re ready to go!

Where do I have to go on the day of the tour and at what time?

Our van / minibus will pick you up at De Ruyterkade, Amsterdam, opposite nr 5. Please be there 10 minutes before the scheduled departure time (as indicated on your booking confirmation). The tour also ends at the mentioned address.

Is Amsterdam the only departure point for the tours?

Yes, at this time it is. But if you stay somewhere else in the Netherlands, it’s possible to easily travel to Amsterdam by train / public transport. Our departure point is very near to Central Station. And our tours usually don’t depart before 9.00 AM.

I cannot select the day I’d like to book a specific tour on the booking calendar. Why not?
In this stage we don’t operate all tours every day yet. And sometimes a tour is fully booked. Maybe one of our other great tours is available on the day you’d like to see the country?
Are all tours suitable for children?
Yes, we are a family friendly tour operator and welcome children of 3 years and over. All tours are suitable for children, but our “hidden gems” tour includes one destination that might not be: a visit to the mummies of Wieuwerd. These are actual corpses that are not suitable for (all) children to see. Of course, your children can still enjoy the trip and stay in the van / minibus when the tour reaches this sight.
Are pets allowed on the van / minibus?
No, pets are not allowed. Only exception are companion dogs for disabled people.
Are the tour vehicles suitable for wheelchairs?
Unfortunately, our vehicles are not equipped with a ramp for wheel chairs. But if you have a foldable wheel chair (that can be stored in the vehicle) and are able to enter a van / minibus without it (our driver / guide is happy to assist), it is still possible to enjoy our daytrips.
Can I cancel or amend the booking?
Yes, you can cancel the booking up to 48 hours before the scheduled departure time of the booked trip. With a full refund of the amount you paid. Please send us an e-mail if you want to cancel / amend your trip.
Can Best of The Netherlands tours cancel a trip?
In case the minimum number (3) of participants is not reached, we can cancel the trip. In the (rare) case that happens, we will send you an e-mail at least 48 hours before scheduled departure time. Of course, we also pay back the amount you paid. A daytrip can also be cancelled due to extreme weather conditions or other calamities. In that case you’ll be notified by e-mail as soon as possible and a full refund of the paid amount will be given.
Do you do customized tours for groups?

Yes, we do. E-mail us at info@netherlands-tours.nl to find out about all possibilities. Please mention the number of participants, date / time / preferred place of departure and the things you want to see!

Can I take luggage with me on the daytrip?
It’s no problem to take a bag with you with food, camera, clothes etc. But our van / minibus is not suitable for big suitcases, big backpacks etc. We advise you to put heavy luggage in a locker at Amsterdam Central Station for the day. Our departure / finishing point is very near.
Is there a toilet in the tour-bus?
No, but along the way there are plenty of opportunities to find one.
In what language is the tour?
Our guides all speak English
Can I explore all destinations by myself?
Yes. Our guides will be in the van/minibus during transport to and from all destinations. They can answer all your questions and they know everything about the places we visit. But we believe in maximum freedom for all participants when we’re at the various destinations. In places like Kinderdijk and Giethoorn there are many different things to do (from taking a cruise to just enjoy the view while having a coffee). You can choose yourself what to do and what to see. In other places (like Delft), our guides can show you the nicest spots (and help you with taking pics)! But here too you have the option to explore things on your own. Just don’t forget to be at the van/minibus on time again to go to the next beautiful place! This way, our daytrips suit everybody!
What is in the free snack- pack?
Usually a small bottle of water, a chocolate croissant, a fruit bar, some biscuits and a delicious Dutch stroopwafel! Still hungry? Along the way there are many opportunities to get lunch / food / beverages. Or just bring your own.
What sets Best of the Netherlands tours apart from other tour-operators?
We offer a unique mix of the country’s top sights and the lesser known, but equally great destinations off the beaten track. In one day, you’ll see 3 to 5 very different, amazing places! Besides more great sights, our tours cover far more distance than other tours, that usually stay in the vicinity of Amsterdam. With us, you really see the country! We love The Netherlands and we want you to love it too! And because we want to be an honest -no nonsense- company, we don’t lead you into tourist traps (compulsory visits to souvenir shops etc). Our time is travel and sightseeing time! Because of all that, we believe that our tours are really the best value for money!
